We’ve talked a lot about cycling videogames on Cyclry. From the Official Tour de France game to garbage app store slop, to Super Tour 3, to some DOS piece of shit, to Hustle City, to Pro Cycling Manager. We even invented our own Tour de France game to make fun of the state of racing in 2009.

Of course, the Grand Theft Auto 5 mod that turns it into Zwift proved that the best cycling videogames are the ones that start as videogames and add the cycling later.

Enter Fortnite, a game that was once a hundred-player Battle Royale game with building blocks and is now… something. You can be Bugs Bunny stealing brainrots, or Peter Griffin running a farm.

And now you can be Jonas Vingegaard riding the Giro in it. The Giro d’Italia has its own game as a custom-built map in Fortnite.

The Giro organizers tell us that the map is inspired by eight official stage locations: Catanzaro, Naples, the Blockhaus summit in Abruzzo, Viareggio, Aosta, Milan, Gemona del Friuli, and, for the grand finale, Rome—the finishing line of the 109th edition.

You can ride the official route virtually with your controller, with paved roads, checkpoints, and “the chance to collect the iconic Giro d’Italia jerseys.”

This is, allegedly, the first time bicycles have existed in Fortnite. Which we think is untrue, but we can’t verify. They’ve added three unique NPCs, for whatever reason, and one of them is a bird in a short skirt.

RCS tells us “The goal is to transform the Fortnite experience into a true stage race, replicating the dynamics of the Giro as players compete for the best time across multiple stages, all the way to claiming the Giro d’Italia Trophy.”

To build the game, RCS Sport partnered with NOVO Esports. That’s apparently an Italian company that has something to do with competitive gaming. Sponsoring the game is De Rosa Bikes, who are also the official bike supplier of the Giro d’Italia 2026.

We’re going to be honest here: we haven’t yet fired up the dusty old PlayStation 4 to try it out. Even more honestly: we absolutely will. We’re not above this. We’re going to play the shit out of it. Look for a review some time soon.

If you want to play, you can enter this memorable twelve-digit code into the game’s search bar. 2964-6590-5518. You can probably search for Giro d’Italia too, we doubt there are many other maps with that name.
