2022 Italian Bike Festival Opens to the Public

The keystone event for the bike and alternative mobility worlds officially opened today at the Misano World Circuit, which will host the expo’s three-day run.

Record figures abounded with over 500 sector brands present in addition to a long list of entertainment spaces that will stage the side events being run by the organisers and companies showing. Bike tourism and new urban mobility solutions have plenty of dedicated space also.

The fifth edition of the IBF officially opened today at its new Misano World Circuit venue. Over 30,000 visitors are expected to immerse themselves in a three-day expo experience that showcases the state-of-the-art in the bike world thanks to the presence of more than 500 international brands. There is also a packed programme of side events for visitors to enjoy, with the stunning Romagna hills providing a glorious backdrop.

The official opening of the IBF was attended by representatives of the Region of Emilia-Romagna, local administrations and the Circuit itself with great emphasis placed during the ceremony on the values and figures underpinning the Italian Bike Festival. «An initiative devoted to two-wheeled mobility could not have come to a more fitting area than Misano Adriatico. – commented Filippo Valentini, Councillor for Sport for the Municipality of Misano Adriatico – For the fourth year running, we’ve been awarded the “Comune Ciclabile” (Cycle-Friendly Municipality) title as a result of our many initiatives. It is an honour for us to welcome the IBF 2022 and the thousands of visitors that it will bring to our area ».

Apt Servizi Emilia-Romagna president Davide Cassani also reiterated the event’s importance and its impact on the surrounding area: «Bike tourism is one of this Region’s top tourist products as we have 9,000 kilometres of cycle lanes on our roads, some permanent, as well as cycling trails and dirt tracks for conventional bike, mountain bike and e-bike fans. That’s in addition to around 220 hotels that specialise in welcoming bike tourists. This offering is also further boosted by events such as the IBF, a prestige showcase for the bike holidays that our entire Region has to offer. It also enriches the Riviera Romagnola’s September calendar with an event that is unique of its kind and has huge appeal to both enthusiasts and the merely curious».

The choice of the iconic Misano circuit as the venue for the fifth edition is most definitely one of the most interesting new features of the 2022 IBF and has turned it into an event of European importance capable of welcoming thousands of visitors to its 50,000-plus square metres of exhibition space. «The Misano World Circuit, the undisputed temple of motorcycling, will provide the perfect backdrop for the IBF 2022 – declared Andrea Albani, director of the Misano World Circuit – Framed by the sea and the stunning VALCONCA, it will give visitors an idea of the beauty of this area. The vast exhibition space will guarantee the Festival’s success as a venue where sector professionals can get together too».

There was great satisfaction also from the members of the team at Taking Off, the company that devised and developed the IBF concept: «Today’s official opening was hugely rewarding for us after a challenging year’s work– the organisers commented – We hope these three days will prove a huge opportunity for everyone involved: exhibitors and sector professionals as well as visitors and their families ».

By staging its fifth edition at its new Misano World Circuit venue, the Italian Bike Festival has become the 360-degree keystone event for the bike industry: «It’s true. We made the decision to broaden our offering to associated sectors like E-Mobility and Bike Tourism which are having an increasing impact in terms of both revenues and enthusiasts,» the Organisers concluded. And so let the IBF begin!
