2024 Criterium Dauphine Stage 6 | Highlights

Report

Primož Roglič executed a flawless performance on the climb to the Collet d’Allevard, securing victory in stage 6 of the Critérium du Dauphiné and taking the yellow jersey. This stage marked the first of three consecutive mountain top finishes, and Roglič’s win sets him up as the race leader heading into the final challenging weekend.

Roglič and his team exhibited remarkable teamwork throughout the stage. Reflecting on the victory, Roglič said, “As a team, we worked hard right from the first day. During the second stage we worked all day, but it didn’t work out. Yesterday every single one of us took quite a hard hit. I’m really happy with the spirit within the team. We did it together today, and we’ll see how it goes for the next days. It’s just the first of three mountain stages. But everything from now on is a bonus.”

BORA – hansgrohe laid the groundwork for the stage win during the approach to the Collet d’Allevard, positioning themselves perfectly with all seven riders. As the climb progressed, the group of favorites began to form, and around 20 riders entered the last 5 kilometers. Laurens de Plus initiated an attack, followed by Aleksandr Vlasov, which proved to be a pivotal move. Shortly after, Roglič increased the pace, splitting the chasing group and catching up with Vlasov. Vlasov, along with Roglič and Giulio Ciccone, pushed forward into the final 1.5 kilometers. Vlasov maintained a high pace, distancing all chasers by the 300-meter mark. Roglič then took the lead and launched a powerful sprint, clinching a confident stage win.

With this victory, Roglič dons the yellow jersey and enters the crucial final stages of the Dauphiné as the race leader, poised for further challenges and opportunities.
