Tadej Pogačar took the yellow jersey today with his 22nd career Tour de France stage win. A high-profile breakaway featuring Mads Pedersen and Mauro Schmid forced the UAE squad to spend their afternoon chasing. Florian Vermeersch, Nils Politt, and Adam Yates brought the breakaway back before handing the keys to Stage 2 winner Isaac Del Toro on the final 1.7-kilometer ramp.
As he did yesterday, the 22-year-old Mexican lifted the pace in the final kilometer and fractured the front of the race. Pogačar bided his time before launching a signature burst inside the final few hundred meters. The Slovenian opened a gap to comfortably cross the line ahead of a chasing Jonas Vingegaard, capturing the 55th yellow jersey of his career.
The result leaves Pogačar at the top of the general classification, tied on time with Vingegaard, while a heavily backed UAE squad positions Del Toro smoothly in fourth overall ahead of Stage 4.
