Milan-San Remo 2024 Route Revealed… Welcome Pavia-San Remo

The 115th edition of the Milano-Sanremo has revealed its route, with a surprise.

The route offers fans a historic first-ever start from Pavia, nestled right in the heart of Italy. That’s right, we’re kicking things off from Piazza della Vittoria, where the teams will be strutting their stuff the day before the race. But that’s just the appetizer, my friends, ’cause the main course is a whopping 288 kilometers of pure cycling bliss, culminating in the traditional finish along the iconic Via Roma in Sanremo. Can you feel the excitement in the air?

We’re talking flat roads, rolling hills, and scenic vistas that’ll make your heart sing. We’re talking about winding our way through historic towns like Ovada, Genoa, and Imperia, soaking in the sights and sounds of the Italian Riviera. And just when you think it can’t get any better, we’re throwing in a couple of climbs for good measure—the Cipressa and the Poggio di Sanremo—guaranteed to separate the men from the boys.

But wait, there’s more. The descent from Poggio di Sanremo is like something out of a thrill-seeker’s dream—twisting, turning, and testing the limits of even the most seasoned riders. And just when you think you’ve got it all figured out, we’re throwing in a couple of hairpin turns and a left-hand bend for good measure. Can you say adrenaline rush?

Now, let’s hear it from the folks who make it all possible. Mauro Vegni, RCS Sport Cycling Area Director, is pumped for another season of Spring Classics, promising us a day to remember come March 16th. And the folks over in Pavia? Well, they’re rolling out the red carpet, ready to show the world what they’re made of.

So there you have it, folks—the Milano-Sanremo 2024, promising us thrills, spills, and plenty of heart-pounding action. So grab your helmets, saddle up, and get ready for the ride of a lifetime.
