A Record 1,500 Participants Race Up Volcanoes in GFNY Bali
The 4th edition of GFNY Bali took place on “The Island of the Gods” last Sunday, with a record participation of 1500 cyclists from 14 countries. Supported by hundreds of Bali’s Police monitoring intersections along the entire course, both long and medium course cyclists had a fast start from the historic Klungkung, along Bali’s eastern coast.
The course took athletes from sea level all the way up to the crater rim of Mount Agung at 1360 m, one of Bali’s highest peaks. 2020 3rd place finisher Mohamad Faisal took the win in 3:50:57h, a minute ahead of 2020 runner-up Erlangga Adam. Eko Setiawan rounded out the all Indonesia podium.
The women’s race was decided in a tight sprint where Gita Widya outkicked Chika Arinda after 4:19:06h of racing. Putri Marlene completed the all Indonesian female podium.
The post-race banquet served up a tasty meal, relaxation, fun, a traditional cultural performance and the awards ceremony.
The 5th edition of this once-in-a-lifetime-must-do race will be held on September 17, 2023. The hot ticket is now available until August 15. Riders should secure their place in this incredible race on the iconic paradise island now.
