Bob Stapleton is stepping down as chairman of the board for the organization, a position he has held since 2014. Vice chairman Brendan Quirk was elected by board members to replace Stapleton, effective immediately. Quirk was co-founder of Competitive Cyclist, which was acquired by Backcountry.com in 2011. The Movistar Team confirmed Wednesday it has reached an agreement for the next two seasons (2022-23) with Iván Sosa (Pasca, Cundinamarca, COL; 1997), a current member of the INEOS Grenadiers squad. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) is pleased to announce that Alex Dowsett (GBR) will attempt to break the UCI Hour Record timed by Tissot on 3 November at the Velodromo Bicentenario in Aguascalientes (Mexico). The previous attempt by the 32-year-old rider should have taken place on 12 December 2020 in Manchester (Great Britain) but had to be postponed when he contracted Covid-19 the month before. The next UCI Cycling Esports World Championships will move from Zwift’s Watopia to its New York Map. The Movistar Team announced Thursday it has reached an agreement for the next two seasons (2022-23) with Gorka Izagirre (Ormaiztegi, Gipuzkoa; 1987), a current member of the Astana – Premier Tech squad, who will come back to the Telefónica-backed squad after being a member of Eusebio Unzué’s team between 2014 and 2017.
