Final Two Stages of Paris-Nice Altered Due to Covid Lockdown

It’s the news ASO didn’t want to have to share. So, uh, they kind of haven’t, instead quietly changing the Paris-Nice race route with just a small quote from Nice’s mayor in ASO’s sister publication L’Equipe on Friday.

Yes, they’re changing the race route to avoid Nice’s Covid-19 lockdown. For the second year running, no Promenade des Anglais. The organizers were under pressure, and local authorities have won out. The race will now complete a route outside of the confined zone.

Unlike last year, the race will complete all eight of its stages, instead altering Stages Seven and Eight to accomodate these necessary changes.

The new stages are a little shorter, though both parcours remain exciting… although Primoz Roglic does not look in danger of losing his lead.
