Tour of Norway Postponed Until the Fall

The Tour of Norway will not take place in May. Although there hasn’t been a new Covid-19 breakout along its route, Covid-19 related travel restrictions will make it difficult or impossible for teams to enter the country.

The organizers are looking for an August or September date for the race. Which means it will clash with the Arctic Race of Norway. Huh. Maybe they know something we don’t. Maybe they just want to piggyback on the fact that a bunch of riders will already be coming to the country. Wild.

Here’s what the organizers told us:

“The current situation regarding COVID-19 and the prognoses for May in Norway has led us to postpone the race. As of today there is a lot of uncertainties around travel restrictions coming in to Norway, and we don’t know if it will be possible for teams to enter the country in May. Therefore we have taken the decision to postpone Tour of Norway 2021 until this fall. In the weeks to come we will, together with UCI, explore alternative dates at the end of August or early September. We will be back with more information as soon as possible.”
