100 Days Until the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling World Championships: Santini Cycling Unveils Exclusive Kit
In a dazzling display of sport and sartorial splendor, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and Santini Cycling revealed the exclusive cycling jersey commemorating the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling World Championships in Zurich. The event, held to mark the 100-day countdown until the Championships, was attended by a slew of local dignitaries and officials who gathered to celebrate Zurich’s role as host for this prestigious event.
Today’s press conference, held in the presence of Cantonal Councillor Mario Fehr, Municipal Councillor Filippo Leutenegger, and other esteemed guests, was nothing short of a who’s-who in the world of Swiss sports and politics. Among the attendees were Ina Bauspiess, Head of Marketing & Sponsoring for Zurich 2024, Tobias Fankhauser, Senior Para Cycling Manager, and Thomas Wuethrich, Director of Zurich Tourism. Christof Baer, CEO of PluSport Switzerland, also made an appearance, underlining the event’s inclusive ethos.
In a speech that could best be described as a love letter to Lycra, Paola Santini, Marketing Manager of Santini Cycling, waxed lyrical about the long-standing partnership between Santini and UCI, which dates back to 1988. “In addition to the World Champion Jersey, every year we create special collections like the one presented today,” she gushed. “This kit embodies the values of quality, innovation, and passion that have always distinguished Santini.”
The star of the show, the Santini jersey, is a tribute to both the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships and the city of Zurich. Adorned with logos and icons that symbolize both the host region and the sport, this jersey is not just apparel—it’s a piece of memorabilia. “Santini Cycling had a unique idea for our merchandising line,” said Ina Bauspiess. “This creation, with icons representing the world of cycling and para-cycling as well as famous symbols of Zurich, makes all the Zurich 2024 items extra special.”
Bauspiess also highlighted the inclusive nature of the jersey. “The LOC is proud to underline the inclusive mission with a Santini unisex event jersey,” she said. “This, just like the same finish line for all para and non-para athletes, is a first in the history of road world championships.” Indeed, the kit’s inclusive design ensures that it will be a hit among all cyclists, regardless of gender or ability.
The kit, which includes bib shorts, socks, a cap, a t-shirt, and a crewneck sweatshirt, will be available online by the end of June. The unisex jersey, available in two colors, is made from 50% recycled fabrics and features raw-cut sleeves, a silicone inner grip at the waist, and a triple rear pocket. Priced between €100 and €119, it offers both comfort and sustainability.
Not to be outdone, the Zurich bib shorts promise high performance and comfort with medium compression fabric, breathable mesh straps, and an inner leg grip. The GITevo chamois with a gel core is designed to absorb shocks, making these shorts a reliable choice for long rides. Reflective details ensure visibility, providing both day and night reliability. These bib shorts are priced at €140.
As the countdown to the Championships continues, cyclists and fans alike can look forward to not only world-class competition but also top-tier cycling apparel that celebrates the spirit of Zurich and the inclusivity of the sport. Whether you’re a pro cyclist or a weekend warrior, the Zurich 2024 kit is set to become a must-have for anyone serious about their cycling—and their style.
