2023 XTERRA Musandam Day 2 | Highlights
Following a fun and festive first day of the 2023 XTERRA MUSANDAM in Oman’s magnificent Musandam Peninsula, the second day of the event today saw a strong field of trail-runners getting down to business in the XTERRA MUSANDAM 10km Trail Run, and XTERRA MUSANDAM 21km Trail Half Marathon. Despite a windy start to the day, Musandam delivered spectacular trail conditions, which took the runners through the region’s mountain and desert terrain on a brand-new trail developed specifically for the event by organizers TRIME.OM.
In the 10km Trail Run event, the overall winner was Issa Al Kamzari, while Saif Alyahyaee and Jasim Mohamad Issa Shahi finished second and third respectively.
For the 21km Trail Half Marathon men’s event, Maxim Chane took the overall win, while Saleh Alsaidi finished second, and Jmal Alkhatri in third. In the women’s event, Marta Menditto took the win, and was followed by Suad Alnasibi in second and Flora Chauvin in third position.
The winners were awarded their prizes at the Trail Run Awards Ceremony at the end of the day, along with their share of the 2023 XTERRA MUSANDAM $23,000 total prize purse.
While the trail-run action went ahead, event festivities continued for race supporters and the local Musandam community at the 2023 XTERRA MUSANDAM Race Village, next to Musandam’s historic Khasab Fort.
The organizers TRIME.OM now get ready for tomorrow’s flagship 2023 XTERRA MUSANDAM event, which will go ahead as the first-ever full-distance XTERRA off-road triathlon in the Middle East, and as part of the global XTERRA Series – considered the World’s #1 off-road triathlon series. The event includes a 1.5km open-ocean swim, 30km mountain-bike, and 10km trail-run. The event can be followed via https://www.instagram.com/tri.m.e/
