UAE Team Emirates set sights on the big Tours for 2020

During the media day of their annual training camp in Benidorm, the leaders for the three big Tours were made official for 2020.

Giro d’Italia: Davide Formolo, Alexander Kristoff and Diego Ulissi.
Tour de France: Tadej Pogačar, Fabio Aru, Fernando Gaviria.
Vuelta a España: David De La Cruz, Davide Formolo, Jasper Philipsen.

Joxean Matxin, Team Manager: “We think we have succeeded in designing a balanced season to achieve our objectives, given the resources we have on our team. The aim is to be competitive in the General classifications of the big stage races, as well as in the sprint finishes.

For the Giro we will have the option of Kristoff, who has been keen to race the Giro for some time. Formolo will be the leader for the General, while Ulissi will go in search of stages.

At the Tour de France we will go with Pogačar, who will race without any pressure, taking the race day by day. Aru will focus more on the GC and Gaviria will have his chances in the sprint.

Finally, Formolo will ride alongside De la Cruz at the Vuelta, while the young Belgian sprinter Philipsen will also debut in Spain for his second Grand Tour”.
