Tour de Normandie Canceled Due to Coronavirus

Face à la situation actuelle, le comité d’organisation a décidé l’annulation du Tour de Normandie cycliste 2020.
« Le cyclisme est un sport populaire, le Tour de Normandie est une fête populaire et doit le rester.
Le monde entier vit une situation inédite qui, nous, bénévoles organisateurs du Tour de Normandie, nous rend impuissants.
Face aux contraintes imposées et aux enjeux financiers pour une association bénévole comme la nôtre, à la menace de règles encore plus dures qui pourraient nous être imposées d’ici le départ lundi 23 mars mais aussi au cours de la semaine de course,
le Tour de Normandie ne célèbrera pas sa 40ème édition en 2020.
Je veux penser et remercier tous les bénévoles, les villes, les collectivités et les partenaires qui préparent depuis 10 mois cette fête du vélo en Normandie.
Le 40ème anniversaire devait être une fête et sans public, il n’est pas question de faire la course. Rendez-vous en 2021 ! »

Faced with the current situation, the organizing committee has decided to cancel the 2020 Tour de Normandie cycling race.
“Cycling is a popular sport, the Tour de Normandie is a popular festival and must remain so.
“The whole world is experiencing an unprecedented situation which, we, the volunteer organizers of the Tour de Normandie, make us helpless.
Faced with the constraints imposed and the financial stakes for a voluntary association like ours, with the threat of even harsher rules which could be imposed on us from the start Monday March 23 but also during the race week, the Tour de Normandy will not be celebrating its 40th edition in 2020.
“I want to think and thank all the volunteers, the cities, the communities and the partners who have been preparing this bicycle festival in Normandy for 10 months.
“The 40th anniversary was to be a celebration and without an audience, there is no question of racing. See you in 2021! “
