Alex Dowsett postpones Hour Record Attempt Due to COVID Positive

A week after announcing his Hour Record attempt, Alex Dowsett has had to postpone it. The 32 year old has tested positive for Covid-19. Oh, Alex. Really shouldn’t have headed back to the Septic Isle.

The UCI has announced that Dowsett has been obliged to postpone his attempt to reconquer the UCI Hour Record as a result of him contracting Covid-19. Well, he probably wasn’t going to try for it while suffering from the virus, but I guess it’s good that they’ve clarified.

The date of the new attempt by the British rider has not yet been decided.

Alex Dowsett told us, “I am really disappointed the attempt can’t go ahead as planned but my health is first and foremost the priority. I’d like to thank everyone, the event organisers, event sponsors, my team, the UCI and above all the public for their support and very much look forward to attacking the record in 2021 with the same intent. We’re looking to announce a 2021 date as soon as possible.”
