Report Wout van Aert has won the first stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. In the hilly opening stage through the Ardèche, the Belgian champion crossed the line first in the bunch sprint. As a result, Van Aert is the new leader in the general classification and the points classification. After dominating the opening two days, Team DSM and Lorena Wiebes tackled the streets of London on Sunday evening with the aim of making it three wins from three. In command throughout the race, the team worked superbly together through the technical circuit before setting up Wiebes for the finale who surged to the line, completing the hat-trick and claiming the GC crown with it. Report The Giro concluded with a 17.4 km individual time trial in Verona, starting initially on flat terrain, then continuing over a 4.5 km long and 5 per cent steep climb before the riders then tackled the fast and technically demanding descent to the finish right in front of the old amphitheatre in Verona. Report Before the Giro comes to a close with the individual time trial on Sunday, there was a brutal 178km stage with around 4,500m of climbing through the Dolomites to contend with today.
