Primoz Roglic has missed the 17th stage of the Vuelta a España after crashing on Tuesday. The 32-year-old Slovenian, three times winner of the Spanish stage race, was severely affected by his injuries. The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) announces that the Colombian rider Nairo Alexander Quintana Rojas has been sanctioned for an infringement of the in-competition ban on using tramadol as set out in the UCI Medical Rules with the aim of protecting the safety and health of riders in light of the side-effects of this substance. Dan Bigham will attempt to break the UCI Hour Record on 19 August at the Tissot Velodrome in Grenchen (Switzerland). The greatest distance covered in one hour currently stands at 55.089 km. This record was established by Belgian Victor Campenaerts on 16 April 2019 at the Velodromo Bicentenario in Aguascalientes (Mexico).
