September 12, 2020. “What a ride” A timely Michael Scott meme here, just 15 years after that episode aired. The Y2K equivalent would be us yelling nonsense mid-1980s catchphrases into the ether on some ugly website nobody reads… wait, wait. Visit the main Advent Calendar page

Are you in the part of the Venn diagram that LOVES pro cycling and video games? Or, like us, are you so ingrained in pro cycling that you can’t look away, and playing video games constantly because you’re in lockdown? Well, either way, here’s some good(?) news: Tour de France 2019 and Tour de France 2020 are both on sale until December 22 as part of Sony’s End of Year Deals promotion. Tour de France 2019 is just $11.99 now, while this year’s edition is half price at $24.99. Thinking of buying? They’re both extremely similar, so unless you want…
October 21, 2020: “18 years too long” Did you guess that it was about Paris-Roubaix being canceled? As it happened, it did rain that day. Well, fuck. Visit the main Advent Calendar page
Count down the days to Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Christmas with Cyclry’s 2020 cycling memes advent calendar. All memes obviously stolen from Reddit. Where else would we steal them from? [adventcalendar calendar=”cyclingmemes”] You won’t be able to explain half of these to your normie friends.
There’s a lot going on in the United States right now. COVID-19, the world’s most incompetent coup attempt, racial justice. But the number one issue facing us all is that three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond hasn’t received enough honor for his achievements. Well, now he will. The Senate has passed a bill to award the Congressional Gold Medal to LeMond, who’ll be only the tenth individual athlete to receive the medal. The bill has now gone to the president’s desk to be signed in Sharpie. These medals are awarded through acts of Congress, with the bills co-sponsored by…
Pieter Weening, Dutch pro and 39-year-old role model for us older millennials who still dream of a career in sports, has announced his retirement. His palmares boasts 13 wins, including one Tour de France stage, two individual Giro d’Italia stages, two more TTT Giro stages, and victories in the Tour de Pologne and Tour of Norway. Want to feel old? That stage of the Tour de France in which he beat Andreas Kloden by less than half a centimeter–the closest stage finish ever in the Tour–was over 15 years ago. Yep, in 2005. Yep, 2005 was 15 years ago. Not…
Remember when we had the exclusive rights to broadcast the Tropicale Amissa Bongo, Gabon’s #1 bike race, for the first time ever on TV? (To be honest, we probably could still have those rights, since they’re not exactly expensive.) That was the best, because it’s a fun race. And it’s fun to say too. But here’s the bad news: it’s postponed due to Covid, like every other bike race on this planet. The UCI 2.1 race was originally scheduled for January 18-24, 2021, but now has no date assigned to it. Doesn’t bode well, but it’s still not officially canceled…
A week after announcing his Hour Record attempt, Alex Dowsett has had to postpone it. The 32 year old has tested positive for Covid-19. Oh, Alex. Really shouldn’t have headed back to the Septic Isle. The UCI has announced that Dowsett has been obliged to postpone his attempt to reconquer the UCI Hour Record as a result of him contracting Covid-19. Well, he probably wasn’t going to try for it while suffering from the virus, but I guess it’s good that they’ve clarified. The date of the new attempt by the British rider has not yet been decided. Alex Dowsett…
