GP Denain and Vuelta a Murcia Postponed

Chute! Chute des… uh, actually a lot of races. But the GP Denain and Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia are the two latest to fall by the wayside.

Both are, optimistically, anticipating a slot later in the calendar. That’s not too likely to work out for them, but let’s cross our fingers and hope.

First here’s what Vuelta a Murcia has to say:

You probably don’t need Google Translate for this one. “La situación sanitaria … Covid 19 … posponer la organización de la Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia”

In honesty, we don’t expect this race to survive, so we may well have seen the last edition. Valverde retiring at the end of the year and killing the local interest will just be the final nail in its coffin.

And now GP Denain:

The GP Denain has been postponed, with organizers telling Cyclry that they’re currently looking for a date later in the year. They may have a little more success doing so than last year, when the race didn’t run at all, but we’re not holding our breath.

The 1.Pro race was scheduled for March 18, and its speaks to the organizers’ confidence that Covid will still be ravaging France in March that they chose to postpone it two months in advance.

So then. Two more down. How many more?

We will not resort to reporting on Zwift races. We will not.
