Honey Stinger Launches New Cracker Bar

Sports nutrition is a mixed bag. There’s the scientific stuff that’s created with your physiology in mind, but for the most part sport nutrition is just sugar syrup presented in a form that makes it more grown up than candy.

A fun sub-story is Honey Stinger vs Untapped, two brands breaking away from the artificial sugar homogeneity with natural sugars: honey and maple syrup respectively.

Honey Stinger wrote to let us know that it’s debuting an improved Cracker Bar, described as “a flavorful, protein-packed, on-the-go recovery solution primed to satisfy hunger and tastebuds alike.” Sounds pretty grown-up.

The Cracker Bar isn’t new. Instead this is a revised version that’s been improved to optimize recovery. The revamped bars feature the same format and taste of the original Organic Cracker Bars. That means nut butter and honey sandwiched between two multigrain crackers, and covered in chocolate. The difference is that the bars now boast twice the amount of filling “to keep athletes feeling more full and satisfied,” plus 10 grams of plant-based protein “to promote optimal recovery.”

“We know our athletes are working harder and balancing more than ever before amid this challenging year, which means recovery is also more important than it’s ever been,” said Mike Keown, CEO of Honey Stinger. “Building on the bold flavors and contrasting textures that gave the original version such broad appeal, our new Cracker Bar gives athletes more of the protein and nutrients they need to be able to both recover and perform at their best.”

The updated bars are designed to be a post-workout fuel, helping athletes repair their muscles and replenish energy reserves for the training ahead. Intriguingly, Honey Stinger is also pitching the bar as a grab-and-go meal replacement “to provide sustained energy and help keep hunger at bay through a busy day.” Which, let’s be real, is exactly how we used the pile of samples we built up from attending various cycling events.

The new Honey Stinger Cracker Bars are available in two varieties: Peanut Butter Milk Chocolate and Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate. Both varieties are USDA certified organic, Kosher and non-GMO, and feature True Source Certified Honey.
