LeBron James and Friends Invest $30M in Canyon Bicycles

If your graphic designer knows what LeBron James actually looks like, then they’re more interested in basketball than cycling. At least, that’s the latest excuse.

LeBron James, famous to many Americans for playing basketball, has invested $30M of his own money in Canyon Bicycles. Wow!

Oh. Actually his investment group, LRMR Ventures, is ones of two groups that have taken “strategic equity investments” in the German bicycle company, totaling $30M.

Canyon says the money will help expand its US presence, which makes sense. Give us a $30M investment and we’ll expand our US presence to a farm in New Hampshire and a beach house in Maine.

LeBron has previously invested in Liverpool FC, and is apparently also a cycling enthusiast. He commutes to NBA games by bike and also owns shares in Cannondale. Is that a conflict of interest? Who cares?

So, man invests money in bike company. Real cool. Glad we didn’t have to write the press release for this one, although we did get the formula down perfectly when we were doing it regularly for shitty startups run by psychopaths companies disrupting the intersection between technology and endurance sport.
