Tara Gins Directeur Sportif Job Offer Rescinded Due to “Inappropiate” Photoshoot

Tara Gins was due to begin work as a directeur sportif for an unspecified male Under-23 and Elite team. However, the deal was called off, citing an ‘inappropriate’ photoshoot.

“I had a verbal agreement to start at a team. I was looking forward to that tremendously. It’s what I like to do. I want to learn and be in the follow car,” Gins says.

“But now apparently someone has made an issue of a picture in a booklet of me. I don’t mind now that the deal was called off. It’s better that way. I don’t want to work with people who don’t see my abilities and only walk with the herd. In cycling, people still think too much in pigeonholes on all levels. That’s a shame.”

The Belgian was a professional cyclist from 2016 to 2018, as well as a team manager at S-Bikes AGU, and course director of the Women’s Three Days of De Panne. She officially retired from road racing at the end of last year.

“Those were pictures that I didn’t do anything to anyone. Apparently those are now too inappropriate to be allowed to work with riders. Apparently a picture is more important than abilities or experience. I want to thank everyone for the messages of support and now put this behind me as soon as possible.”

We were going to share a collection of cyclists who’d done naked photoshoots with no repercussion, but we don’t want any more DMCA strikes. Here are Froome and Cipo with their bits out though.
