UAE Team Emirates continue to strengthen their squad. Three new signings follow the high profile João Almeida addition.
Marc Soler will join the team next season. Soler: “I’m very pleased to be joining UAE Team Emirates and looking forward to the new adventures and challenges ahead. I’m coming here with a lot of excitement and with desire to work hard and and enjoy this new chapter. After 7 years at Movistar I think now is a good time in my career to look for new challenges and I thank them dearly for all our years working together and wish them all the best for the future. I’m ready for this new step.”
Pascal Ackermann also joins the team on a two year contract. The 27-year old already has 35 career wins to his name and is keen to build on that success with the Emirati squad.
Ackermann: “I am absolutely thrilled to wear the UAE jersey next year. This step will be a special one in my still young career. The team I will be part of is something unique in cycling. I would like to thank everyone who made this step possible and gave me the confidence to achieve common future goals.”
And finally, the Colombian sprinter Alvara Hodeg joins on a two year contract. The 24 year old from Montería holds 13 professional victories to his name since he joined the World Tour in 2018.
Joxean Matxin Fernandez (Team Manager): “Hodeg is a huge talent. He has a lot of quality and is not only a talented bike racer but also a great person and the type of athlete we want in our team. We are convinced that cycling has not seen the full potential yet of what this guy can do. We want to see him get the best out of himself and I hope we’ll see him hit his stride here together with us at UAE.”
Hodeg: “I’m arriving to the team with a lot of desire and ambition. It’s a similar feeling of excitement to when I first started riding bikes. The people I know in the team have spoken very highly about it and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. I’m ready to work hard to achieve great things together here at UAE.”
