Wout van Aert to Miss Spring Classics

It’s news that has been hard to miss: Wout van Aert crashed heavily in the Dwars Door Vlaanderen. After weeks spent training at altitude to be in optimal form, the crash seemingly put paid to his hard worked plans to win the *gestures generally at Roubaix and Flanders*.

And now there’s no seemingly about it. He’s confirmed to miss the Spring Classics.

Wout van Aert suffered a broken sternum, broken collarbone and several broken ribs. He has already had a successful operation and will spend the coming weeks recovering.

We may yet see him on the start line of the Giro d’Italia, but we’ve been told not to hold our breaths on that one.

Get well soon, Wout.
