Meilan Introduces Smartphone App

It’s the news you’ve all been waiting for… Meilan has launched its Android app!

Wait, who?

Meilan is a Chinese head unit manufacturer, selling 6/10 head units for 10/10 prices. We’ve been tempted to move over to this budget brand rather than pay Garmin $600 for $100 worth of technology. But we haven’t been brave enough to try it.

The new app supports all Meilan bike computers: “All Meilan bike computer users can download, discover and dig your datas by Meilan High Professional APP mor deeper than ever before!” Well, we understood just enough of that.

Don’t have a Meilan device? You can still record your rides in the app, and also upload .fit files from other head units.

While Meilan plans to support more than 20 languages soon, it’s only available in English and Chinese for now. Meilan also plans to add iOS support too.

The app has been developed to support their flagship model, the M1. They’ve sold a lot of this unit, which includes Komoot navigation and 48 data fields. Meilan says “Now M1 is never so powerful.” Sounds good.

We’ll review the app soon. Maybe we’ll scrape together $100 for the M1 too. Watch this space.
