The Movistar Team increased its number of 2022 victories to 15 thanks to one of the biggest up-and-coming talents in the women’s peloton. Sarah Gigante took Tuesday’s honours at a warm, demanding Emakumeen Nafarroako Klasikoa, the first of the Navarra classics, with a sensational attack over the final section of the 139km race with eight rated ascents around Irurtzun. Not even a crash when already making part of the final selection prevented the 21-year-old from Melbourne from jumping away from a nine-woman group over the descent of Saldías, 35km before the end, a field also including her team-mate Paula Patiño.…

With the serenity and authority one can expect from a rider and team like them, Iván Sosa and Movistar Team sealed on Sunday their overall success in the 2022 Vuelta a Asturias with no chance left for the rivals at the Alto del Violeo (Cat-2), decisive point of the short (120km), intense stage three between Cangas del Narcea and Oviedo. Movistar Team leader Annemiek van Vleuten has sustained a broken right wrist after a training crash on Thursday. She successfully underwent surgery last night at the Rijnstate Hospital in Arnhem. Annemiek’s approach to the Grand Tours in July (Giro d’Italia Donne & Tour de France Femmes) will not be compromised by the injury, either. No plans have been established on Van Vleuten’s return to racing. The Spanish races the Olympic champion was going to…

Liège-Bastogne-Liège is one of the races I dreamed about winning and to do this at…
