Yakima's finest tech writer. Formerly wrote about and reviewed iPhones, now freed to ride a bike and talk cycling gear.

We’re back from our week-long vacation. Did you even notice we were gone? Probably not – despite the break, June was somehow our biggest month ever. We’re more popular when we say nothing. Figures. We haven’t wasted this time though. We have wasted this time vaping, playing PlayStation, and watching weird movies with Aubrey Plaza in them. Oh yeah, and we wrote BLACK LIVES MATTER in pavement chalk outside the Cyclry HQ. So far, so good, despite the fact that there’s a car with a Thin Blue Line bumper sticker permanently parked outside. As the sport begins to return to normality heads towards an insane clusterfuck of a year-long cycling season being played out over two months, the Cycling Anti-Doping Foundation has shared an update on how they plan to operate following cycling’s resumption, and how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected their work. And the headline item is that out-of-competition testing dropped by 90% during this period. So it’s been a great time to inject pig fetuses into your thighs, or whatever the latest trend is. With nothing to do but wait it out, this seems an appropriate time to draw a line under this page. We won’t be updating it…

The Garmin Edge 130 Plus and Garmin Edge 1030 Plus not only exist, they’re available to purchase right now. Edge 130 Plus The Edge 130 Plus looks the tastiest of the two. As old school cyclists who still follow The Rules, we love a small bike computer. This latest iteration addresses many of the missing features on the Edge 130, adding structured workouts, ClimbPro, Mountain Bike Dynamics, and a whole other bunch of…

Terrible cycling computer manufacturer Hammerhead has confirmed that it’s making a third attempt at building a functional head unit, following the disastrous Hammerhead One and bizarre Karoo. Hammerhead’s devices are Fred-city, light on functionality that cyclists need and heavy on… well, on weight, in the case of the bafflingly enormous Karoo. Like, really heavy. They occupy a strange place in the market, largely purchased by elderly men who discovered cycling late in life and need a big screen, with a smattering of tech nerd city commuters too. The Karoo 2 is apparently “a generational leap in bicycle computers, delivering an…
