Race Report Dylan van Baarle won the 2023 Omloop Het Nieuwsblad with a solo attack on the Muur van Geraardsbergen. The Dutchman of Jumbo-Visma was part of a seven-man breakaway that formed 40 kilometres from the finish. He dropped his companions on the iconic climb and held off a chasing group and the peloton. Van Baarle crossed the line alone on the Elisabethlaan in Ninove, 20 seconds ahead of the peloton. This is Van Baarle’s first victory for Jumbo-Visma. The Race Report in the Form of a Poem There once was a rider named Dylan Who had a strong passion…
Does your D Curve? Don’t answer that, we are not legally allowed to hear the answer. Not after our last transgression. D CURVE Optics has announced a new partnership with Race Across America, an event more associated with withered Ds and calloused perinea than benign genital curvature. 2023 will be the race’s 41st edition, and the 3,000 mile coast-to-race event is now OFFICIALLY the World Championships of Ultra-Cycling. Apparently, D•CURVE offers innovative eyewear that is “geared toward sustainable, lasting products with original designs and exceptional quality.” This partnership hopes to highlight the company’s wide range of products suited to different…
It’s a sentence we never expected to have to write. Not because it’s shocking or terrible, just because we always assumed Sea Otter already had an industry day. Isn’t the entire thing an industry day? Apparently not. The first-ever Sea Otter Classic Industry Day will take place on April 20, 2023. We’d be making a 4/20 joke here, but we’ve also received a press release about something called D Curve and we need to save all our immature comments for that one. What makes this an industry day instead of whatever they call the rest of Sea Otter? They say…
How do you feel about GLUCOSE MANAGEMENT? If you’re not diabetic, the answer used to be “please don’t approach me in this bar, my boyfriend is in the bathroom and he’ll be back any moment.” But now, in 2023, endurance athletes-cum-influencers have shifted the paradigm by sticking continuous glucose monitors on their arms and telling their followers that it will make them faster. (Also, if you arrived from a Google search for “cum influencers,” it’s in this paragraph but it’s not what you were looking for.) Supersapiens is the global exclusive distributor of the Abbott Libre Sense Glucose Sport Biosensor,…
Do you care? Maybe, if you arrived here from a Google search. But we don’t care. Who’s the current UCI Cycling Esports World Champion? No idea. Is this actually the first edition? No idea. But apparently we’re asking the wrong questions. Zwift says, “The big question is, how are you going to watch the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships?” The big answer is that we’re going to spend time with friends instead of watching people race bikes in a video game. Anyway, the format goes like this: The men’s and women’s championships each start with a round featuring 100 racers.…
