Davide Rebellin died this morning after being hit by a truck while on his morning ride. Initial reports state that the driver of the heavy truck that hit him while exiting a motorway off ramp did not stop. Italian police are working to trace the truck’s driver. The 51-year-old had only just retired after a long career that included victories Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Amstel Gold, La Fleche Wallonne (three times), the Paris-Nice, and the San Sebastian Classic.
