Davide Rebellin died this morning after being hit by a truck while on his morning ride. Initial reports state that the driver of the heavy truck that hit him while exiting a motorway off ramp did not stop. Italian police are working to trace the truck’s driver.  The 51-year-old had only just retired after a long career that included victories Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Amstel Gold, La Fleche Wallonne (three times), the Paris-Nice, and the San Sebastian Classic.

Italian clothing brand Rosti has demoed something not one single person on Earth asked for: denim bib shorts for cycling. The “Bib Jeans,” are 48% cotton, 22% recycled polyester, 15% polyester and 15% elastane. That’s real denim, not printed lycra. The Bib Jeans have been long in development, even tested by the AG2R Citroën team. COROS Wearables has released its latest smartwatches, the COROS APEX 2 and the COROS APEX 2 Pro. Is this triathlon news? It’s totally triathlon news. We’re stretching the Cyclry remit a bit here. Rouvy, which is like Zwift but uses Google Maps or whatever, has entered the TRAINER WARS. Kind of noncommittally. Kind of basically just Switzerland, to be honest. BUT. They have announced a special offer on trainers for people who “don’t yet have a modern indoor trainer to workout, explore routes, and join the challenges and events happening on ROUVY.” Not exactly indoor-cycling-as-a-service, but it’s something. Gonna be honest, here. These don’t look like great deals compared to what Wahoo and Zwift are offering. But maybe you hate Wahoo and Zwift. Maybe you’re loyal to… Zycle. If so, you can save…

Sonny Colbrelli has decided to retire from pro racing. The Paris-Roubaix winner suffered cardiac arrest in March and has not raced since. Following tests that revealed a cardiac arrhythmia leading to cardiopulmonary arrest, Colbrelli began to use a subcutaneous heart-monitoring defibrillator. However, Italy has banned elite cyclists using this, or similar devices, from competition. He toyed with the idea of racing as Swiss, and now appears to have resigned himself to retirement. The Bahrain-Victorious team will host a press conference, in which they’ll announce everything we already wrote. Farewell, Sonny. A fine palmares.

A Basque Country preview video. You can basically only type those words in that order if you write about cycling for a living or manage Rick Steves’ website. The Route Looks like a load of squiggly lines going across France like a belt. Wait, no, it looks EXCITING. A Tour for the Climbers Four, count them, four summit finishes. And, alright, that’s about par for the course, but one of those is the Puy de Dome. It’s making its first appearance since 1988. A welcome addition for cycling websites that are obsessed with the 1980s. Anybody know one of those?…
