Race Report Tadej Pogačar was once again victorious on the second summit arrival at Paris-Nice. After a day of forced rest caused by the strong wind, UAE Team Emirates’ captain conquered stage 7 of the French race, 142,9 km from Nice to the Col de la Couillole, preceding his direct rivals for the general classification David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ), 2nd at 2”, and Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma), 3rd at 6”. On the final climb, the peloton bridged the gap from the main breakaway of the day (18 riders) and then the battle between the main favourites of the race began: Vingegaard attacked…

Race Report Olav Kooij has won the fifth stage of Paris-Nice. The 21-year-old sprinter got off the wheel of Mads Pedersen after more than two hundred kilometres, following a strong lead-out from Edoardo Affini, and pushed his bike across the line first. It is Kooij’s second victory at WorldTour level, having won a stage at the Tour of Poland last season. The longest stage of this edition of the “Race to the Sun” had to be climbed right from the start. Some second- and third-category climbs were perfect for a possible breakaway, but it did not materialise. Towards the end,…

Wout van Aert crashed at the bottom of the final climb, denying him the stage win. The most challenging part of the stage came at the end, with four climbs in the last 50 kilometres. On the second pass of the Tortoreto, Julian Alaphillipe took off. Van Aert was quick to react, and although the rest of the peloton joined him a little later, the Belgian’s intentions were clear. For Van Aert, things went…
Race Report La Loge des Gardes (6,8 km at 7%) is where it all kicked off. After some intense work by his teammates, Pogačar countered an attack by Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma) at -4,2 km; the duo were caught by the first chasing group after a few hundred meters and in that moment David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ) went solo. Pogačar waited until there were 2.3km to go and then attacked, bridging the gap to the French rider, while Vingegaard struggled in the attempt to reach the two riders. UAE Team Emirates’ captain and Gaudu then sprinted for the victory and the Slovenian…
